Frangipani SUP Success Series 2026.
In addition to her existing private and 1:2:1 retainer coaching offerings, SUP Race Coach Anni Ridsdill Smith is delighted to launch new for 2026 the Frangipani SUP Success Series. A year-long series of creative, flexible and value for money online and in person group coaching activities, to support your SUP success in 2026. Whether you are new to challenge events and races or a seasoned competitor, we believe this approach will help to increase your confidence and capability in 2026.
The Frangipani SUP Success Series is a carefully structured coaching offering that runs from January to December and is designed to support paddlers who want to improve their skills, confidence, and understanding of SUP racing and challenge events in the UK. Whether you are new to racing, returning after a break, or looking to refine your performance, the series has something for you. It is flexible by design and paddlers can dip in and out to suit their needs, booking onto the sessions that they think will be helpful to them. So you pick the coaching activities that you think will help you become stronger, more confident, and more connected – on the water and beyond.
At its heart, the Frangipani SUP Success Series is about progress, not perfection. It breaks SUP development into manageable monthly themes, combining online ‘Theory Theme’ sessions (£15 per session) and on-water ‘Skill Set’ group coaching sessions (£39 per session), so paddlers can dip into coaching activities in a way that suits them and their budget.
A month-by-month pathway to SUP success
The series runs across the year, with each month focusing on a key element of SUP performance:
It begins in January with Growth Mindset and Planning for SUP Success, laying strong foundations by helping paddlers reflect on their goals, growth mindset, motivation and approach to learning. This opening theme encourages you to understand why you paddle, how to respond to setbacks, and how to plan realistically for a successful year.
From there, the programme builds towards the start of the main UK competitive season. February explores Choosing Paddles and Fins for SUP Success, empowering paddlers to make informed equipment choices that suit them. March moves into Race Tactics, Rules, and Dealing with Nerves, supporting paddlers to feel confident, prepared, and calm when participating in challenges or racing under pressure.
For some months, online Theory Theme sessions are paired with on-water coaching Skill Set sessions, allowing paddlers to apply what they’ve learned. For example, March includes Starting for SUP Success, covering standing starts, in-water starts, and seated starts, while April’s Tracking for SUP Success develops straight-line paddling, foot steering, and drafting skills.
Blending theory and practice
A built-in feature of the series is its balance between learning and doing. Zoom sessions provide clear explanations and time for discussion, while on-water sessions focus on practising skills with others, with Coach Anni leading. This blended approach is aimed at supporting paddlers who learn in different ways and helps knowledge translate into confidence on the water.
As the year progresses, the series covers further performance-focused topics such as Sprinting for SUP Success, Turning for SUP Success, and Pacing for SUP Success. May sees the return of our ever popular SUP Sprint Demons clinic – where an online Zoom session (Weds 6th May 7pm) is coupled with an on-water skills clinic (Sunday 10th May 9am at Trifarm in Essex) to prepare for Sprint Regattas – or just learn how to sprint like a demon!
May also sees the arrival of our brand new Race Skills Camp, a weekend (May 23rd and 24th venue tbc) of laughs, fun and learning with a small group of others, featuring on-land teaching and on-water practice of a full range of skills – including Running for SUP Success (beach starts, flag runs, running finishes) and Knowing Tides for SUP Success
The SUP Success Series keeps going well into and beyond the main UK race season. August’s Hydration and Nutrition for SUP Success does what it says on the box and September and October’s Video Learning for SUP Success sessions will give us a chance to learn through observation and group discussion.
Phew?! Feeling tired yet?! Don’t worry because in November Anni will restart her highly acclaimed Energy for SUP online course, a unique and creative ‘once a month for 5 months’ online workshop, designed to help paddlers harness the energy they need to do it all again, in 2027!
Theory Theme Zoom sessions are booking now £15 each – or £11 for members of the Frangipani SUP Challenge and Race Team.
For our Skill Set on water group coaching sessions, Sprint Demons and our Race Skills Camp dates and bookings will announced soon.
